Who We Are

Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone” – Fred Rogers

Well Beyond Academics, Inc is a 501(c)3 organization committed to normalizing and destigmatizing the reality and experiences of today’s youth. We put research into practice. Data tells us what needs to be done and Well Beyond Academics knows how to do it. We take necessary but potentially awkward, scary, stressful topics and turn them into fun, engaging opportunities for learning, conversation and connection.

WBA  partners with schools and communities to provide comprehensive sexuality programming, mental health curriculum, substance use education, and suicide prevention to faculty, students, and their families. With the delivery of dynamic,  innovative, mental health infused, curriculum WBA strives to build a healthier generation one community at a time.

What Parents Say

  • I can’t say enough about Well Beyond Academics. They take the awkward out of puberty and sex-ed. Their instructors are incredibly well-informed, open and non-judgemental. My kids loved the humor and ease of the classes as well as being able to ask questions anonymously. I loved the focus on teaching about both consent and respect, and how to navigate sexuality and relationships, and also that they asked students to choose a Trusted Adult who they can go to for questions and help. The parent education night beforehand was great for nervous parents and the Guardian-Child Game Night was a lot of fun. Our 5th graders beat us parents in the sex and puberty trivia games!

  • I was so impressed with the caliber of the sex ed teachers. They were confident, young, and cool enough to be exciting and relatable for the kids, and were able to engage my kids in topics that had the potential to be quite awkward. The program that Jenene and Jennifer developed is comprehensive and engaging, and has definitely led to many lively conversations at home. I really appreciate the doors they have opened for my children!

  • We are SO thankful that we and our kiddos have such a fantastic puberty (and life) education class.  Impressive program and teachers! As many of my patients are young teens, I wish these classes would/could be a standard for ALL.  Thanks for getting us a step closer.
